To mark the World Health Day 2008, Department of Helth Services and WHO jointly oraganized an interaction program on 7th April, 2008 at Kathmandu with a slogan "Protecting Health from Climate Change". On the occasion, Nepal Country Plan for the International Year of Sanitation (IYS) 2008 was distributed and IEC materials were demonstrated. Mr. Han Heijnen, Environmental Health Advisor of WHO, limelighted about the IYS 2008 and pointed out that producing biogas from human waste could reduce climate change?the critical issue affecting health and environmental sustainability. Secretary of The Ministry of Health and Population, Director General of Health Services, Chief of National Health Education, Information and Communication Centre and WHO Representative to Nepal were also present.
