On 5th March 2008, IYS-2008 Nepal Desk, Nepal Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Group, Resource Center Network Nepal and End Water Poverty Sanitation and Water for All campaign organized a symposium with an objective to share the approaches and technologies in hygiene and sanitation sector in Nepal. The papers on SLTS, Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), Community Based Sanitation, Ecological Sanitation and Bio Gas Program were presented followed by a group discussion on the way to betterment of the technology and program approaches in the days ahead. Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works had made the CLTS Guidelines public. Mr. Hutta Ram Vaidya was awarded with a letter of recognition for his outstanding contribution in promoting environment and sanitation in Nepal.
